Software Upgrade Vs. Full Install

A Software Upgrade will upgrade the Wholehog OS without reformatting your hard drive
or erasing your showfiles.

The Full Install will reformat the console’s HDD (hard drive) reinstalling the complete OS(s) and erasing your showfiles. Yes, your externally saved Backup showfiles can be loaded back in to the console after this Install is complete. Full Installs are not always required, but sometimes are the only way to update certain drivers.

Upgrading Consoles

Software Upgrade Instructions

1. Save the Hog4 software (fpspkg) to a thumb drive.
2. Insert media into console.
3. From the Start screen, click SOFTWARE
4. Select your external media from the pop-up window
5. Select the location of the Upgrade file, and click OK.

Upgrading Hog4PC

1. Download the upgrade file (.msi) from the High End website
2. Install on your Windows machine as you would any other program

Note: Hog4PC will automatically uninstall the old version and replace it with the new. Your show files will remain untouched.

Full Install Instructions

You can perform a full install from a CD or Thumbdrive

Creating an ISO on a CD

1. Download the .ISO file from High End’s website.
2. Download “DeepBurner” (free)
3. Use the ISO option in DeepBurner to properly extract the files.

Creating a bootable thumbdrive

NOTE: Thumbdrives are not natively bootable. These instructions are taken directly from HES’s Hog4 manual and this is the program they recommend:

1. Download the .ISO file from High End’s website.
2. Download and install Linux Live’s “USB Stick Maker” to your Windows PC.

3. Insert a USB flash drive into on of your Windows computer’s USB slots and start Linux Live’s USB Stick Maker (USB flash drive must be at least 2GB)
4. In step 1 of Linux Live USB Creator select the USB flash drive you inserted into your computer
5. In step 2 of Linux Live USB Creator click on ISO/IMG/ZIP and select the Hog 4OS full restore .ISO file that you downloaded from the Hog 4OS support page online 6. Skip step 3 of the Linux Live USB Creator and look at step 4. Select “Format the key in Fat32”
7. Click on the lightning bolt in step 5 of the Linux Live USB creator.
8. A dialogue box will pop up warning you that your USB flash drive contents will be erased. Click okay.
9. When Linux Live USB Creator is finished it will alert you. Remove your USB flash drive.

Performing a full install from CD or thumbrive

1. Ensure that ALL of your showfiles are backed up externally. Running the full install WILL erase all showfile on your hard drive.
2. Connect a USB keyboard to your console if you are using a RoadHog or FullBoar.
3. Connect your ISO thumbdrive, or insert your ISO CD into the console and restart the console.
4. The Restore menu will appear, press ENTER on your keyboard. Install will take a few minutes.

Upgrading Hog 3 Consoles

Updating Hog3 console software is only slightly different, but I felt it was important enough to include the specifics on the instructions in the tabbed guide below.

Hog 3 Software Updating

Upgrading Wholehog III Consoles

Software Upgrade Instructions
1. Save the .FPSPKG file to a CD or Zip disk.
2. Insert media into console.
3. From the Start screen, click SOFTWARE
4. Select your external media from the pop-up window
5. Select the location of the Upgrade file, and click OK.

Note: There is no progress bar during this installation, and it will take about 20 minutes.

Upgrading Road Hog Full Boar consoles

Software Upgrade Instructions
1. Save the Hog3PC file to a CD or thumbdrive.
2. Insert media into console.
3. From the Start screen, click SOFTWARE
4. Select your external media from the pop-up window
5. Select the location of the Upgrade file, and click OK.

Full Install Instructions
1. Ensure that ALL of your showfiles are backed up externally.
2. Download the .ISO file to your computer.
3. Use a FPS tested CD burning program (I recommend the free version of Deepburner) to burn the CD as an ISO image.
4. Insert the CD in the console. Turn console off.
5. Attach a keyboard to the console and reboot desk.
6. When the console prompts you to “press any key to install from cd,” press any key on the connected keyboard.
7. After the console copies information from the disk, you will be presented with a window asking for instruction. Use the TAB key on your keyboard to select FULL INSTALL, and confirm it.
8. The console will finish the install process and reboot.
9. Recalibrate your touch screens and load your external backup showfiles back into the desk.

Note: There is no progress bar during this installation, and it will take about 20 minutes.

Upgrading Road Hog consoles

Software Upgrade Instructions
1. Save the Hog3PC software to a thumb drive.
2. Insert media into console.
3. From the Start screen, click SOFTWARE
4. Select your external media from the pop-up window
5. Select the location of the Upgrade file, and click OK.

Full Install Instructions from a USB thumbdrive.
1. Ensure that ALL of your showfiles are backed up externally.
2. Download the USB Clean Install file to your computer.
3. Unzip this file directly to a BOOTABLE USB Thumbdrive.

NOTE: Thumdrives are not natively bootable. You can make a thumbdrive bootable by using a tool in the RoadHog, or in Microsoft Vista. Read the instruction on page 8 of the Road Hog Quick Start Guide to do this.

4. Insert the thumbdrive into the console. Turn the console off.
5. Connect a keyboard to the console.
6. While the console is booting, tap the keyboard’s F8 key to enter a device selection screen.
7. Use the keyboard’s arrow keys to select the USB thumbdrive from the list and hit ENTER.
8. The console will begin copying files and then it will prompt you with a FULL or PARTIAL INSTALL screen. Select FULL INSTALL and confirm this.
9. The console finish the install process and reboot.
10. Recalibrate your touch screens and load your external backup showfiles back into the desk.
Note: There is no progress bar during this installation, and it will take about 20 minutes.

Note: A Full Install can also be performed by using an external USB CD Drive.

Upgrading Hog iPC consoles

Software Upgrade Instructions

NOTE: Hog iPC upgrade software MUST be down in this order:
1. Hog iPC Config Panel
2. Hog 3 PC
3. Hog 2 PC

1. Save the IPC Config Panel, Hog3PC and Hog2PC files to a CD or zip disk.
2. Quit the Hog3PC Application to enter the Hog IPC Configuration Panel.
3. Locate the Upgrade section from the menu on the left side of the screen, and click Hog iPC.
4. Click BROWSE to find the iPC Configuration panel upgrade software, confirm the upgrade and let it finish.
5. Under UPGRADE, click HOG3PC
6. Click BROWSE to find the Hog3PC upgrade software, confirm the upgrade and let it finish.
7. Under Upgrade, click Hog2PC
8. Click BROWSE to find the Hog2PC upgrade software, confirm the upgrade and let it finish.

Full Install Instructions
1. Ensure that ALL of your showfiles are backed up externally.
2. Download the .ISO file to your computer.

Upgrading Hog3PC

Software Upgrade Instructions
1. Save the .MSI file to your computer.
2. Click the Install icon as you would any other program for the PC.
3. Follow the prompts and restart your computer when finished.

Full Install Instructions
There is no Full Install for Hog3PC as it is installed on your personal computer.
